First Solo Trip [ICELAND]
Hi!
I'm a 20 year old guy from England, not the most out going, or how do I put it, emotionally stable(?) person out there haha, so go easy as it's my first time posting here too!
I'm heading off to Iceland next week - hopefully... I say hopefully as I've got everything booked; flights, accommodation along the way, hire car and what have you, however I'm in a bit of a rut at the moment.
I have been off work since mid April as I was suspended, I won't go into too many details but it has left me in a situation where I do not know whether I will end up keeping my job or not, it's a job I absolutely love doing and have met some amazing people there and it's stirred up all these emotions and made me feel rather unhappy at the moment.
So I am still waiting to hear what will happen as a result of all of this... I have had this holiday for myself booked since the beginning of April and had the leave approved from work before the whole incident occurred, to start with I am worried that if I do not hear what will happen before I leave, can they say anything if I still go away? Considering I've had the leave approved by them for over a month now?
Anyway, if everything goes ahead then whilst I'm out there, I've never been the best at conversations with strangers or approaching them, I'm staying in a few different hostels and heard they can be quite easy to start conversations with people there, any tips for talking to complete strangers?
My plan so far is over the course of the week that I'm there for I will be driving the ring road (basic I know), however I'm branching off at different parts to see various areas of the country, I've always wanted to go to Iceland since forever and I'm so excited to finally be going! However with the mindset I have at the moment I don't know how I'll take to new people whilst I'm there or if I'll even be able to enjoy it.
