First Solo Travel Experience

Hi everyone!

I am trying to decide on a good destination in the US for my first solo travel experience. I have decided that after vacationing with my parents this summer in Denver, I also want to go on a separate solo vacation somewhere of my choosing. I am currently planning for July 10th - July 14th. To give an idea of what I want to do: I love large cities and my main draw is going to be the ability to explore cities, sit down and relax in coffee shops to read, eat great food (I'm a huge foodie so this is my biggest draw), go to malls, and find cool bars. While I may go to a couple museums and historical landmarks, that is not something I will consider too much before going. I'm also not a huge planner (other than reserving restaurants) so I plan to explore on a whim rather than have things set to do. Here are my 5 choices as of now:

  1. Seattle: I've been here but it was when I was really young so I don't remember it too well. I just remember really enjoying the great city life, the walkability, and I have heard that there is amazing food, specifically Asian Cuisine which is one of my favorites.
  2. New York: I have also been here but I was even younger than Seattle. I feel like this is my top choice now because of the insane amount of things to do and what are considered some of the best restaurants in the world. My only worry is that I may regret going with only a 4-5 days to explore. Would it be worth it to put this destination off for when I have maybe a week to vacation instead?
  3. Chicago: Never been here, but I have heard nothing but incredible things about the city, the food, and the culture.
  4. Philidelphia: Pretty much the same comments as Chicago, but this is probably lowest on my list as it is supposed to be insanely humid that time of year.
  5. Austin: I've heard Austin is one of the most underrated and fun cities. It's also the cheapest in terms of flights and hotels. I don't know if I've heard much about their food scene though. Finally, while they do have an insane music scene, that isn't a large draw for me. Also, I have family in Dallas, but I've heard people say Austin is much better than Dallas. Is that correct?

So what do you guys think! I'd greatly appreciate any help that you guys could provide. I'm also open to other suggestions if I'm missing something obvious, other than places I've been recently or been to many times (New Orleans, Portland OR, San Diego, LA, Boston, San Antonio). Thanks so much in advance everyone!
