Did anyone leave an SO behind to solo travel?
Hi everyone! Some recent changes in my life and work have allowed me to take a solo trip much sooner than my initial still-far-off planned date in 2021. I am planning to go for 2-4 months. I am in a long term relationship - we’ve been together 7 years and they’re the love of my life. However, they’re not super excited for this idea - they don’t see what’s wrong with taking 2-week vacations every year, they don’t like the idea of extended low-cost travel - basically they don’t want to come (and selfishly, I feel like I need this experience for my own growth so I don’t mind) but they also don’t want me to go. I should note, I have built expenses at home into my budget planning so my half of the rent, hydro etc will be covered for them while I’m gone.
Am I an asshole for pursuing this? Have you had a similar experience? Any hot takes?
