Critique my itinerary: Peru
Hello! I'm going to Peru in June and need help deciding on my itinerary. Any help would be great!
Day 1: Flight to Lima; subsequent flight to Cusco; arrive in Cusco at 7:35PM
Day 2: Explore Cusco, get acclimated to altitude
Day 3: Day trip somewhere...I was thinking Salineras or Moray; go back to Cusco at night
Day 4: Day trip to Ollyantaytambo (alternatively I can travel to Ollyantaytambo and stay there the night)
Day 5: Travel to Aguas Calientes, hike up to Machu Pichu; back to Ollyantaytambo for the night
Day 6: Travel back to Cusco; spend day there (or other plan)
Day 7: Travel to Lima; explore Lima the rest of the day
Day 8: Explore Lima
Specific questions:
-Should I stay in Cusco as my "base camp" all those days or should I sleep overnight in Ollyantaytambo?
-Am I being overly ambitious or not ambitious enough?
-What else can I do on the days it looks like I could do more (Day 4/6)
-Any general advice about how to get to each place (Cusco to Ollyantaytambo, Ollyan. to Aguas Calientes, etc)
-Any advice on acclimating to altitude? I've never been in high altitude before so I don't know what to expect
-Any advice on things I should bring with me when I pack (my friends said water bottle, snacks, cough drops for quick sugar intake...anything else?)
Thank you!!
[edit] Added day 8 since I forgot to add it the first time
