The current cross country drvie time record is held by Ed Bolian at 28 hrs 50 min.

I have no interest in breaking that. Another cross country event that intrigues me is the 2904 ( http://www.the2904.org/ )
That event restricts you to a budget of $2904 (including car and fuel) and new rules also exclude electronic countermeasures and cars made after about 1994 (NO OBD2)

With those constraints you really can't do 130 MPH across Oklahoma without risking jail time.

So it comes down to efficiency and planning, getting around traffic, minimizing stops, etc.

So I thought it would be fun to discuss which cars would be well-suited fro this task.
