Any suggestions for this itinerary for a California/Vegas roadtrip?
Hi everyone. I have come up with a rough itinerary for my upcoming trip to the US. I have ideas on what I’d like to see and do in each place, hotels with free cancellation booked, and just over 3 months to make any changes to the itinerary. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or ideas for where else I could go/what else to do, particularly in between Palm Springs and Vegas? I’m looking mainly at places like National Parks, State Parks etc, basically being out and about exploring, but any towns/cities with stuff to do are also of interest.
August 28th Los Angeles, staying in Hollywood
August 29th Los Angeles, Hollywood again
August 30th LA to Palm Springs and staying there
August 31st Palm Springs -> Joshua Tree NP -> Lake Havasu City
September 1st Lake Havasu City -> Kingman AZ -> Las Vegas
September 2nd Las Vegas
September 3rd Las Vegas
September 4th Las Vegas -> Death Valley NP -> Mammoth Lakes (a lot of driving for one day I know... intending on an early start, seeing as much of the park as the heat will allow, then onto Mammoth Lakes for the night).
September 5th Into Yosemite NP and staying in Mariposa
September 6th Whole day at Yosemite, again staying at Mariposa
September 7th Mariposa to Kings Canyon National Park, then staying in Visalia, CA
September 8th Sequoia National Park, again staying in Visalia
September 9th Back to LA for one last day as my flight back is on the 10th
One thing I considered is getting accommodation closer to Kings Canyon and Sequoia NPs but couldn’t really see anything half decent that doesn’t cost a fortune so figured I’d just do the drive from Visalia.
