I recently visited Jordan and I really loved it, so I want to see more of the Arab world, and Egypt is the next obvious choice.

I felt that Jordan was a good entry point for the Arab world, is Egypt easy to travel around in (Jordan was okay but the public transport was not very good) and how much does it typically cost? How does it compare to Jordan (is it much busier? How are the people?)

Also, are there any places you'd definitely recommend or definitely recommend I avoid? Of course I want to see the Pyramids, but is there a way to explore the more 'off the beaten track'?

And finally, is Egypt safe at the moment? Jordan felt incredibly safe, I see Egypt in the news more, so is it safe right now?
