Which city has the best city center?
I'm passionate about this subject and I like comparing different city centers to each other.
I define city center as the non-strictly residential areas where there are many points of interest bec residential neighbourhoods don't matter to the tourist.
I'm also interested in their absolute size and their size relative to the city size as a whole. Google maps offers a great way to decipher that. Istanbul for example while it may have a nice downtown, it's so small compared to the city overall.

How much of the city center is actually aesthetically pleasing? If I take Paris, I consider the 20 districts (or zone 1) to be the city center of the Ile de France area. They mostly got that uniform blue roofs which are so pretty. It's huge compared to what Istanbul offers.

So for me, I think Venice (whose city center is basically the island) NYC (Manhattan), Paris (Zone 1), Hong Kong, Rome (Municipio I + Vatican) offer the best city centers. Rome's city center is really small though compared to the urban region.
