So am leaving from the US tomorrow for my most ambitious solo travel adventure yet.

I'm a pretty experienced traveler, doing 2-4 trips a year for the last 6 years or so, but almost all of them just a few weeks since that's all I could get off work.

This year though I decided to quit the job and leave on The Big One and my goal is to make it all the way around by mid-October-ish. Longest trip I've ever done before was about 6 weeks so want to push myself a bit.

Rough itinerary is:

May: Italy and Greece.
June: Egypt, Rawanda, S. Africa.
July: India.
August: SE Asia
Sept: Hong Kong, Japan.
Oct: Hawaii.

Obviously though plan to play things by ear as I go.

Curious if others have any general tips on longer term traveling for the first time like this. Or any suggestions I shouldn't miss along the way. I tend to prefer chiller locations, good surfing, and ancient ruins.
