Theee Months, Northern or Southern South East Asia?
So I was thinking for a solo backpacking trip in 2020 I’d do SEA, but I’d only have 3 months next summer (late May- September) between college, I’d be 20 at the time.
I wouldn’t want to cram, and I’d like to take things at a steady pace and enjoy it all. My first option would basically be the Banana Pancake (Northern Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia) trail plus southern Thailand or Southern Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore. My only plan would be either direction and see where that takes me for 3 months.
My interests: Alcohol and Parties, Food, Temples, Walking/Hiking, Nature, Photography.
I want to do a jungle trek, I’ve always wanted to see Angkor Watt but I’m willing to leave that to another time as I will return. I’d like to see some quiet tropical islands.
Budget: Over the course of a year I’d hope to save between 3k-5k. I’d have an emergency fund to get a flight home should I run out on my travels. I’d plan on staying in cheap hostels, maybe camp a bit. I will splash out a few extra quid on a hostel I think looks worth the price, but not that much. Would Plan to eat local and cook for myself.
I plan on doing the one I don’t pick a few years after regardless, just wondering which you would recommend for first time, with that time limit, etc etc.
