Southern Solo Road Trip Itinerary
I am planning a 2-3 week solo road trip in August that starts and ends in Pittsburgh. I have a general itinerary and I was hoping to get any feedback from the experienced bunch on here.
Pittsburgh to Nashville (2 night stay)
Nashville to Muscles Shoals to Memphis (1 night stay)
Memphis to New Orleans (3-4 night stay)
New Orleans to Panama City Beach (1 night stay)
PCB to Savannah (3 night stay)
Savannah to Asheville (1 night stay)
Great Smoky Mountains to Shenandoah via Blue Ridge Parkway (how long for each park is kind of up in the air) and then back to Pittsburgh.
Music, food, and nightlife are big interests of mine and this trip. I am not the most experienced outdoorsman, which is why the national park leg of the trip is still up in the air, but I would love any recs on how long I might want to stay in each location.
I know August is a bad time to do this trip with the heat and hurricane season, and I am a little worried about the NOLA-PCB-Savannah part of this trip. However, August is rare time in my life where I will have freedom to do something like this, and NOLA has always been a bucket list city for me. Any tips on navigating the Gulf area during this time would be appreciated. I don't mind inconvenience but I'm obviously don't want dangerous.
