Road trip across America planning update!!
I posted here a while ago because my bf and I want to do a road trip during the summer to celebrate our graduation. We’re coming from NJ and originally wanted to loop around the whole country. Here’s our new plan...
NJ->Chicago Chicago->Minneapolis Minneapolis->Badlands Badlands->Yellowstone Yellowstone->Glacier National Park Glacier->Seattle Seattle->Redwood Forest Redwood->Yosemite Yosemite->LA LA->San Diego San Diego->Grand Canyon Grand Canyon -> Zion Zion -> Arches Nat’l Park Arches -> Denver
From Denver, fly home!!
FYI, we plan to stay 2-3 nights at each place, with the exception of Minneapolis which is just a pit stop from Chicago to the Badlands. We plan to stay in Minneapolis for only 1 night. Neither of us have really explored out west (I’ve been to LA and San Diego which are beautiful) and just wanted to make the most of seeing the fascinating national parks and culture.
First of all, I’d like some feedback on the itinerary. In Seattle, we’re gonna dedicate a day to Mount Rainer National Park. And in Denver we’ll dedicate a day to Rocky Mountain National Park. We’re wondering about hiking and camping in some/all of the national parks. The Airbnbs and all hotel lodging is sooo expensive plus we want to experience camping. I think it would be a more unique experience than staying in a hotel anyway. so I’m wondering if any of you had advice regarding the campgrounds of some of these parks. I looked online and saw that some campgrounds are able to be reserved ahead of time and some are first come first serve. I know this isn’t a camping subreddit but what’s some good gear to bring for camping in this time of year, at those parks?
