Really stuck on where to go this June/July
Hello! I figured this was the place to come for some advice - very stuck on where to go.
So from June 26th - July 18th, I've booked holiday off work. Now I've got the near impossible task of deciding where to go. I've generally had two trips in mind; Australia and NZ, or The Western USA. Australia and NZ sounds incredible to me, but with it being winter there, I've been a little scepticle about it - what doesn't help that, is that it'll be nearing mid summer in the US at that time, with some fantastic weather on the west coast and towards Vegas.
It's not really going to be a budget trip like most of my previous trips so I haven't really considered where is cheaper - however, the US would most likely be a group guided tour through either Trekamerica or Gadventures, whereas Australia and NZ would be much more self guided, staying in hostels.
Honestly, I'm so so stuck. My main reasons for travelling is to experience something different to what I'm used to, whether that be landscapes or culture, but obviously none of them are that different culturally to the UK. In terms of landscape, all 3 places offer places that are vastly different to home, and apart from New Zealand, Australia and America really aren't particularly solo travel friendly in terms of getting about, and although NZ is, it could potentially be snowing when I go (at least that's the impression I have), which really isn't what I'm after.
I guess the main 3 things I'm looking for is hiking, nightlife, and meeting people (Can't stress this enough, but I always find that the people you meet tend to define the trip more than the country you visit).
At the end of the day I'd probably have a blast in either country, but I guess it's just finding somewhere more suitable.
What are your suggestions? Anything would be greatly appreciated!
