Ireland 3 Week Itinerary - Tips/Suggestions

Hi guys, I am 20 years old, male, attending college in Boston, and I am heading to Ireland in mid-August to hike the entire Dingle Way trail around the Dingle peninsula by myself. Overall I will be spending over three weeks in Ireland. I have a couple of questions regarding my stay. DISCLAIMER: I am not renting a car because I am 20 years old and they do not rent cars to under 21s.

I am flying to Ireland on the 14th of August and arriving in Dublin on the 15th in the morning. I plan on spending a total of 5 nights in Dublin to start out. My first three full days will spent exploring the city, and the last two days will be day trips to the Boyne valley and the other to Glendalough and the Wicklow mountains. The next day I will check out of my accomodation and head to Tralee on either a bus or train (I may do a bus so I can stop in Kildare to maybe check out the Irish Stud?) and spend the night in Tralee before beginning my hike. The follow hiking schedule is what I will be following once I depart from my accommodation in Tralee (I will be walking to all of these places). DISCLAIMER: Everything about this part of my journey is already booked through Hillwalk Tours.

August 21st: Tralee - Camp

August 22nd: Camp - Annascaul

August 23rd: Annascaul - Dingle Town

August 24th: FREE DAY IN DINGLE TOWN (I do not know what to do yet on this day, but I may go on a fishing trip in the morning, or perhaps play golf? Tour the distillery?)

August 25th: Dingle Town - Dunquin

August 26th: Blasket Island Day Trip (Sleep in Dunquin)

August 27th: Dunquin - Cuas (Check out Gallarus Oratory on the way)

August 28th: Cuas - Cloghane

August 29th: Cloghane - Castlegregory

August 30th: Castlegregory - Tralee (YAY! I finished my hike!)

After I arrive in Tralee I plan on spending the night at the same hotel I did on the first night and taking the train to Killarney the next morning. After an exhilarating hike I booked the Lake Hotel in Killarney for 3 nights, overlooking the beautiful Lough Leane. On my arrival, I plan on chilling out. I will fully take advantage of their spa and pool. This day will be a do nothing day, only to just relax. The next day I have talked to a local guide, Tony Payne, about going on a fishing trip on the Killarney lakes. Later in the day, I have plans to get a private Falconry experience from another local guide with Killarney Falconry. Any other free time I have that day, I may go explore Muckross House and surrounds. The next day, September 2nd, I will go on a private Ring of Kerry tour with Killarney Taxi.

Following my three nights in Killarney, I will use the same taxi service, Killarney Taxi, to drive me to Doolin through the Burren and also to see the Cliffs of Moher. In Doolin, I will get lunch and take a ferry to Inishmore and spend the night. The next day, I will take a ferry from Inishmore to Galway, via Rossaveal, and then spend that day checking out Galway as well as seeing a few pubs. My last full day will be spent on a tour to Connemara with Epic Ireland Tours. The next morning, the 6th of September, I will take the Galway bus transfer to Dublin airport via CityLink.

PHEW! Thank you for bearing with me through all of that. I know it may be a lot but some of my basic questions are 1) Would you recommend spending those 2 nights on the Aran islands (1 in Inisheer, 1 in Inishmore)? What would you recommend doing with the last nights of my Ireland itinerary? Is there anything that immediately jumps out at you from this itinerary as being something to avoid? It is worth noting that the only thing that I can not change is the itinerary around the Dingle way. Everything is pretty much up in the air, as I can still cancel my reservations in Killarney.
