Sorry, I know this is an odd question. I am moving to Glasgow form NYC in September. I have a sister who lives in London, so I'm debating flying to her place a few weeks before the start of my program and taking the opportunity to do some solo travel.

I would like to travel to either the Baltics or the Balkans however, I am unsure if I will be able to afford it at the moment. I'll have a better idea when the date gets closer but I'm worried the costs will go up significantly the closer I get to my intended travel date (late August).

So I guess my question is, how much more expensive do things get the closer you get to the departure date (Flights, hostels, trains, buses, etc.)? Sorry for the long-winded question, I've never traveled solo.
