Gatlinburg in the Fall. Please help me plan.
My wife and I are planning a short trip to Gatlinburg, TN from October 18-20. From what I gather, this date range is prime fall leaf color viewing time. Also, we have a son who will be 1 at the time of this trip and we are on the fence about bringing him or letting him stay with his grandparents for the weekend (He's a happy kid so I think he'd tolerate the travel, but is this trip a good kid friendly vacation or would he make our travels difficult?). We have an Air BnB in a cottage that is located 10 minutes from Gatlinburg, and 20-ish minutes from Smoky Mountain National Park.
We are National Park Enthusiasts and at the very least a day in the park is a must. My wife loves Aquariums so we'll want to include this in the plan. Beyond those two details, I'm not familiar with the best way to spend our time. I want to have a list of "must do's" and great places to eat. We like to jam pack our days, so please provide as many recommendations as possible.
Also, for those of you who have visited Great Smoky Mountain National Park, please provide must sees in the park, and the best trails to hike.
Thank you all in advance!
