First solo travel - Croatia? (27F)

Hey, so I'm posting here looking for some advice and reassurance. I originally booked flights with my now ex to Croatia in June. We would have been flying into Dubrovnik and leaving from Split, and would be there for a total of 8 days. We were planning on spending an equal amount of time in both places and doing some day trips in both. We've since broken up, and we were planning to sell the flight tickets (we didn't book hotels/airbnbs). The flights haven't been sold and I'm in desperate need of a holiday, so I thought why not go alone? A friend is interested in coming along but it most likely won't pan out.
I've never solo travelled before and I'm generally quite shy, but open up quickly if I meet a friendly person. I was thinking of staying in sociable hostels in both Dubrovnik and Split and hopefully meeting other solo travellers to do things with. I'm also fine to do things on my own, but I do suffer from social anxiety and I'm afraid that I won't enjoy my time there as much if I'm alone the whole time. I'm also scared I'll feel lonely and that going there will make me sad about the breakup. I'm also non-white, and I'm afraid I'll get some racism / hostility from the locals. Maybe I'm being a bit of a debbie downer haha.
Anyway I'd really love to hear from those (especially women) who have solo travelled to Croatia. Any tips/advice/reassurance would be more than welcome. Thanks a ton :)
