Does anyone else feel their travels are unjustified if they have an apartment lease/debt/etc?
Hello, long time lurker, first time poster. I have wanted to solo travel for years now (really my whole life) but currently pretty heavily weighed down financially -- 26 year old professional w/ student loans and an upcoming wedding this year, living with professional fiance (26 also) who has CC debt I'm helping him with, we live in the outskirts of Seattle so high COL but wanting to move to Ireland after wedding.
I'm a personal finance nutcase but in a good way, as we are doing well despite all odds and paying for our own wedding ourselves. However, I'm currently in a transition to a remote work/digital nomad career situation and the pull/wanderlust to actually go on my first trip is MEGA high. I'm just worried it'll somehow slow us down in our so far rapid progress to slaying the debts, paying for wedding etc.
The obvious answer might be just wait till things settle down like after the wedding (plus our high rent lease is up right after it too) but has anyone been able to justify a solo trip with a similar/debt-including financial situation? To clarify, if I went on a trip our income would not change at all, I'd just be also paying for my trip.
