DC to Niagara best route?
Hi everyone, I'm a 25 year old Indian guy who's working in DC and my parents are in US for a visit. I was thinking of taking them to Niagara falls the coming weekend and booked an AirBNB on Grand Island which is close by Niagara. I bought an Accord in Feb 2019 so this is going to be my first family road trip in the US (continuing dad's tradition of having taken us to hundreds of road trips in India).
I Googled the routes from DC to Niagara and found 3 with equal driving times (around 7 hours). They are:
- I-79 through Pitttsburgh
- I-80 through the forests (This one is the most straightforward route)
- Through Harrisburg and Tioga state forest
My parents are in their 50s so being able to stop at restrooms would be a factor, but so far in my few road trips I've found US infrastructure to be pretty sound, always found stop. Plus google maps has the feature to add stops. I wanted to take the prettiest route as this might be a once in a lifetime trip to Niagara for my parents. I wasn't sure which of the routes are preferred from that perspective. Thanks for letting me know your thoughts!! I appreciate any insights.
