Cultural appropriation when traveling/ethnic fashion, hairstyles
I have a question about cultural appropriation. To be honest, I think most of the uproar regarding cultural appropriation is just manufactured on Twitter or Facebook. As far as I am concerned, I pretty much do what I want. But I was wondering what you all think about wearing traditional clothes when you are traveling. I was surfing the net, looking at the most spectacular Indian clothes for men and thinking if I go to India, I want to wear them. When I lived in Japan, my Japanese friends sometimes suggested I wear a men's kimono. (I did tea ceremony a few times). I think Japanese people liked it and I never even heard about cultural appropriation back then....I also think the Middle Eastern clothes for men are very stylish. (I hope I don't open a can of worms about burkas and hijabs). Just wondering about what you think.
