Considering Solo Travel For The First Time
I (22, F) have been saving up and wanting to spend 3-4 weeks traveling Europe for the last couple years, and I’m set on going this summer because I feel like if I just keep putting it off I’ll never go. The only problem is, it isn’t looking like the timing and cost is gonna work out for anyone else I’d want to go with.
Ideally, I want to go with another person but I’m quite introverted and independent and I think I could still have a good time if I went alone.
So, basically I’m wondering what some pros and cons of going alone would be. I’m thinking of doing London for sure, and then either Amsterdam and Paris or Barcelona and Rome. Thinking of maybe saving Spain and Italy for another trip where I could do Spain/Italy/Greece and stay further north this time in England/France/Holland.
I’m definitely interested in travel to experience the culture, food and history, which I don’t mind doing alone during the day, but I’d love to experience the nightlife scene as well and that part of it I’d want to do with other people, what’s the best way to meet people for this kind of thing? Planning on staying in hostels mostly as I don’t have a ton of money to spend, will hostels be a good way to meet people (I’m not super outgoing)? I’ve also seen people on this subreddit mention pub-crawls, anyone have experience with those?
Thanks!!
