China (1 month or so) - looking for input/suggestions to tighten up itinerary
I have around 4-6 weeks or so to play with in China. My entry options and budget are pretty flexible.
Looking for some 'do's' and 'do nots' in regards to transport and accommodation or just general feedback. This is a very brief overview of my idea - getting a little distracted by all the options. Also will be there over the 4 day National holiday in May so... not sure where best to hide out during that period, maybe just in the city, Nanjing perhaps?
Considering:
Nanjing (typical historical sites including city wall, Ming Palace, Memorial to the victims of the massacre)
Highspeed Train to:
Huangshan (Yellow Mountain)
Highspeed Train to:
Changsha - Mostly just using Changsha as transit point (probably have to stay overnight due to train schedules).
to connect by train to:
Zhangjiajie (few days in the National park)
Fly to:
Guilin Stay in Guilin or Yangshuo or visit both.
Highspeed Train to:
Chengdu
Highspeed Train to:
Xi'an (Terracotta Warriors, old fortifications, city walls, general city sights, drum tower etc)
Then thinking about trying to join a group to Tibet, if so I'll probably head to Xining by train for a couple of days first.
Curious if any of you did similiar itineraries and have any suggestions about better connections, or any accommodation you really liked and is worth checking out (or avoiding for that matter).
I have wondered if I might be hitting too similar things with Huangshan and Zhangjiajie.
