Bolivia in May. Weather? Packing advice?

Hello!

I am traveling to Bolivia in May, and through searching and doing research, I am trying to get a good grip on what the weather will be like in May and how I should properly pack. I go to Bolivia May 3rd, and from my understanding, it winter will be just around the corner during that time.

First starting the trip at the amazon jungle in Rurrenabaque, so at that point it will be hot and humid. However, 3 days after I will be going to La Paz, followed by Sucre, Potosi, and the Uyuni Salt Flats. It seems to me like the latter half of the cities I will be visiting will be cold, and luckily no rain.

How is the weather in May, and how should one pack lightly but with all the necessities? I will be backpacking, so space is limited. With the cold, I am assuming that bugs and mosquito will not be much of a problem at this time, besides in the amazon. Will mostly be staying in hostels or other cheap sleeping options. Do I need a sleeping bag? I've read several peoples experiences saying they brought along a sleeping bag with them when in Bolivia, but I am worried it will just add unnecessary weight that could be used for other stuff. At the least, I was going to bring a towel and/or some sort of some sheet, if need be, as a replacement for a sleep bag of some sort.

Layers? Rain jacket? Heavy jacket? Obviously pants, and maybe a pair of shorts. How are the clothing stores in Bolivia? Could I potentially get cheap stuff there if I forget something
