Apprehensive about my first solo trip
So I’m moving to Glasgow from New York for school in Sept. I’m really debating flying over a few weeks early and bopping around a bit. My sister is currently living in London so I’ll have her flat as a home base of sorts.
My preliminary plan is to fly into Ljubljana (from London) and work my way up to Tallinn hitting Prague, Vienna, Budapest, and Krakow on the way. I’m thinking a three-ish week timeframe and would like to keep my spending around $1200 (excluding the initial flight to London).
I’ve never traveled solo before and I’m fairly apprehensive about it. Firstly, no idea if my budget is realistic. I’ll be hostel hopping and eating cheap, but I do enjoy a night out.
Secondly, I keep debating in my head weather or not I should save the money and travel a bit during uni when I find a friend group. I feel like I may get bored travelling alone.
I’m probably going to do it anyway, but I’m just looking for reassurances I guess.
Also, I read a lot about people flying into somewhere and just winging it. I would love to take that approach. However, isn’t it a bit difficult when you book hostels/transport in advance? I know hostelworld has a negligible up-charge for free cancellation, but I’d imagine a flight or a rail ticket is a different story.
Thanks again. Sorry, for the stream of conscious
