I'm planning a solo road trip through Canada and the US for about 6 months, beginning in May. I'm spending the first 3 or so months in Canada and then will head through the US.

What are some must haves as a road tripper, a solo female traveler, ect?

Was there anything that you thought you wouldn't really need, but has been helpful?

I'm hoping to see as many places in Canada and the US as possible (I'm from Alberta and have been living in British Columbia for a few years). Where are some recommended places to visit in both countries? I'm on a budget, but still want to have awesome experiences, meet cool people, ect. My goal is to do as much hiking as possible where it's available!
