What would be a good trip for a week for a solo female traveler (23)?
I have a week off work to travel and I'd really like to go somewhere beachy/tropical, so I am considering Belize or Mexico, but also don't want to spend too much on flights (but will if I have to, my budget is basically $500 for a flight). I'm also considering other countries in Central America, but not sure the safest place since I'm going alone. I've read a lot of people's different experiences, also in Belize/Mexico, so now I'm more confused than ever.
I'm looking for recommendations for a destination that's beachy but also has activities to do nearby with good food, relaxation, and maybe the opportunity to go out into town alone and not get murdered. I've looked up a few resort areas (Cancun and Puerto Vallarta) but not sure how those would be alone.
Let me know your experiences!! Any help would be appreciated.
