Road Trip from Vancouver BC to LA via the Pacific coast
Hi Reddit, so I'm planning to go on a road trip down to LA from Vancouver, BC via the Pacific coast sometime this summer. We plan on budgeting about 10-12 days for this adventure.
We're not really interested in stopping much in Seattle, Portland and San Francisco as we've been to these places several times before. However we're interested in little stops to take pictures of landmarks and nature on the way. I also enjoy driving very much, which is why I'm actually considering this idea.
We need some help on our itinerary, and also someone to knock some sense into us if this itinerary is absurd!!
Day 1 (start around 5 pm): Drive to Portland and stay the night.
Day 2: Drive the Pacific coast and hopefully make it to a town just before San Francisco. Need ideas on where to stay.
Day 3: Drive down to San Francisco, meet up with a friend for food, keep going down San Jose, hopefully make it to Los Angeles by nighttime. Otherwise we can budget day 4 for getting to LA too, but we expect to be in LA no longer than day 4.
Day (4 if applicable), 5, 6, 7, 8 - adventure in LA
Day 9: Drive up to Yosemite, take some pictures and walk around, keep going up to Lake Tahoe. Get lodging in Reno. Flexible to stay longer and do Lake Tahoe/Reno the next day.
Day 10: Drive to Portland or Seattle. If we're fast we'll be in one of those cities.
Day 11: Drive home.
Basically, we budget days 1-4 to travelling to Los Angeles. Days 5-8 will be spent in LA. All days after will be left driving back up home through Yosemite and Lake Tahoe.
We're also toying with the idea of cutting LA short but going over to Grand Canyon as well for a day.
Thanks a lot!
