Need help deciding where to go Mid-April
I live in Boston and I have a week off in mid-April and I definitely want to travel! Normally I'm cool with going wherever, but this winter I got a really bad Crohn's flair-up and now I'm on an extremely restrictive diet (no alcohol, dairy, gluten, red meat, raw vegetables or spices). For that reason I don't want to be eating out or trying new food at all. If I end up traveling somewhere I'd either be staying in an AirBNB or a hostel with a good kitchen.
As for things I can work around, I don't drive and would prefer to go somewhere warmer. I haven't travelled much in North America, but when I look at most of the warmer cities it seems like you either need to rent a car or spend a lot of money on Ubers. I'm trying to make this as cheap as possible, but I'm willing to spend more on a bed if it means I'm near good public transit or walking distance to things to do. I enjoy aimlessly walking through cities, visiting museums, monuments, historic sites and parks, but I can also enjoy myself on a beach, on a lake or in the mountains to. I also enjoy meeting people but as I'm not drinking I know this part will be a bit more challenging.
I've been invited to Seattle, but my friend will be working when I'm there and I don't wanna be a nuisance to him while I'm there (it's also a bit pricy). I've also been to New Orleans, Puerto Rico, Panama, Jamaica and Aruba, and while I wouldn't be opossed to going back to these places I do try and go somewhere different. Trying to do this trip for under $1000, which should be doable seeing as I'm not eating out/drinking, but if possible I'd like to keep this on the cheap side. Some ideas I have included:
*Miami/Ft Lauderdale, with a day cruise to the Bahamas to check off another country, this is the one I've done the most research in and I found a few decently priced hostels in Miami Beach.
*Austin/San Antonio, Texas.
*Denver/Boulder, Colorado
*Seattle/Vancouver with a trip up to Whistler, but I'm really hesitant about this one because of costs.
*Los Angeles/San Diego/Tijuana, also worried about costs.
*Costa Rica, I'm sure I'd be fine but I'm worried about my dietary requirements there.
*Ciudad de México, also worried about dietary restrictions there.
*Ecuador, I've pretty much ruled this one out because of flights and diet but I'd love to make it work.
These are only ideas and I'm open to going anywhere as long as it's within my budget, thanks to everyone in advance!
