I'm going to do it
I've been out of college and working for 3 years, and I've slowly accepted the fact that I no longer want to work in my chosen major.
I went on my first solo trip to Ireland and Britain last year for my birthday, and it was the most fun I've ever had in my life. Sure sightseeing was cool, but what got me hooked was interacting with people from different countries, and learning about their lives, dreams, and aspirations.
I've decided to become an English teacher abroad. I'll be able to get paid as well as travel on weekends and time outside of class. It's totally different from my chosen major from college, but I want to at least try. I'm not afraid to look stupid in front of a classroom, nor am I afraid to fail. I would rather fail than face the regret of not trying.
Everyone I talked to who did a solo trip or taught abroad said it was worth the risk. It's my life. When I'm too old to do anything, I want to be able to say I lived a life I'm proud of.
