First-Time Solo Traveler - ITALY

Hi everyone!

I've been lurking here for a few weeks now and have finally decided to post! 21F from the US. I am looking to travel in Italy after I graduate from college and go all over the country, starting in the North and then making my way down to the South/Sicily. At the moment, I'm thinking about travelling for 6 weeks. For some context, I speak Italian conversationally and can pass as a native-born Italian, so I'm not particularly nervous about safety in the cities/towns that I would be in in a "will I be targeted as a clear tourist" sense. This has been one of my bucket list goals, as I first decided to learn Italian after visiting Italy three years ago and wanted to go back to get even better at the language.

Is 6 weeks too long for a first-time solo traveler? I'm not particularly comfortable with being alone with myself, which is one of the main reasons why I want to solo travel. However, I'm nervous that 6 weeks will be too long. I'm considering separating the trip into two parts and visiting a friend in another country in-between.

My parents are also not super keen on me doing this; however, I feel that it is the right thing to do for myself right now. I do admit that travelling alone as a young American female can have its challenges in terms of unwanted male attention/catcalling, so I would love to get some insights from any younger women who have/have not encountered this issue while travelling in Italy.
