First solo trip to Japan, am I biting off more than I can chew?
Hey, all! So I'm planning on going to South Korea for 10 days with two friends of mine next year, which I'm super excited about. I'd initially wanted to do 10 days in SK and 10 days in Japan, but my friends didn't think they could take off work for so long and SK is their priority, which I'm cool with, though Japan is mine.
I was planning on just cutting my losses and going the year after but...I don't want to. This is something I've wanted to do for over a decade, and I'm tired of waiting on other people. I'm tired of my own excuses, too.
So I'm going to do it, despite my super over-protective mother practically forbidding me to (I'm closer to 30 than I am to 20, lol), everyone around me thinking I'm crazy, and my own anxious brain telling me I absolutely cannot pull this off.
Tbh, I'm quite terrified! I live in the US and I've never travelled anywhere solo before. The furthest I've been, period, is the Dominican Republic, so this is such a huge leap for me.
Anyways! About my question.
I was planning on either flying or taking a boat from Busan, SK to Fukuoka and then making my way up to Tokyo. My super basic intinerary looks something like this:
D01 - Plane/Ferry from Busan, SK to Fukuoka
D02 - Hiroshima
D03 - Osaka
D04 - Kyoto > Nara (day trip)
D05 - Kyoto
D06 - Kyoto
D07 - Kanazawa
D08 - Tokyo > Hakone (day trip)
D09 - Tokyo
D10 - Tokyo
D11 - Tokyo
D12 - Tokyo
D13 - Flight Home
Am I doing too much? Should I just stick to Tokyo and Kyoto for my first solo trip to make things easier for myself?
Something else I've been worrying about is my luggage. I absolutely plan on going shopping in South Korea (though I'll make sure not to overdo it considering) and the thought of lugging a heavy suitcase around isn't very apppealing. I'm probably going to have to just suck it up, though.
Any and all advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
