Detailed trip report - Taiwan and Japan - January 2019
Hello r/solotravel!
Today I wanted to share my solotravel to Japan and Taiwan. I am mostly a lurker here, but today I wanted to share my experience of solo travelling to Japan and Taiwan. I have been to Taiwan and Japan in January this year. I stayed in Taiwan for 4 days and in Japan 11 days. I have been to Japan before but never visited Kansai area and Kyushu. That is why I am focusing this time visiting those areas. So here is my trip report:
Destinations
Taiwan:
- Taipei City
- Jiufen
Japan:
- Nagasaki
- Hiroshima
- Miyajima
- Osaka
- Kyoto
- Nara
Accomodation
In Taiwan I was fortunate enough to stay with some friends. I stayed in New Taipei and my friends took me to a lot of great places in Taipei and Jiufen. In Japan I mostly stayed in hostels, except in Kyoto.
Costs
Here is just a rough estimates of my expenses during the trip:

| Other remaining travel expenses in Japan (bus, tram, non-JR lines) | 70 euro ??? |
| Food & Drinks | Average 40 - 50 euro per day in Japan. Taiwan was cheaper to eat. |
| Fees for temples, gardens, museums, observation decks, other fun stuff. | Probably around 200 euro for the whole trip. |
| Souvenirs | Too much to count. |
