Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Russia: 5 weeks in June/July
I am planning a trip to these four countries and would appreciate insight and feedback on my itinerary. I originally was going to spend more time in Russia but decided to concentrate more time in Georgia this go around. I am trying to keep this a fairly cheap journey when I can. Solo female with very limited Russian- trying to practice!
June 18: Arrive Yerevan (Envoy Hostel)
June 18-21: Yerevan with Sati Tour day trip to Tatev/Noravank/Khor Virap
June 21-23: Dilijan
June 23: Dilijan to Tbilisi, stopping briefly in Vanadzor (advice on this travel appreciated)
June 23-27: Tbilisi (Fabrika Hostel) with Envoy Tour day trip to Kazbegi
June 27-28: Tbilisi to Tsqaltubo, overnight in Tsqaltubo then to Kutaisi
June 28-30: Kutaisi with day trip to Chiatura (advice on solo day trip welcome)
June 30-July 2: Batumi (should I stay more than 2 nights?)
July 2-July 4: Mestia (should I stay more than 2 nights? + travel/where to stay advice welcome)
July 4-5: Travel from Mestia to Kustaisi to Tbilisi to Sighnaghi (travel advice welcome)
July 5-6: Sighnaghi
July 6: Sighnaghi to Sheki (travel advice much appreciated)
July 6-8: Sheki to Baku (possibly stop in Ganja, advice appreciated)
July 8-11: Baku
July 11-13: Fly Baku to Kazan, two days in Kazan
July 13-15: night train to Moscow, two full days Moscow, night train to St. Petersburg
July 15-20: St. Petersburg, night or day train to Moscow
July 20-24: Moscow
Thanks all! This is my first time in this region but not my first time in the former USSR. I look forward to reading your feedback!
