23(F) first time solo travel - Vietnam - please help with logistics!
Hi all!
I have a little over two weeks to spend in Vietnam starting mid April and would appreciate some insight. This is only my third trip overseas and my first solo, so I'm a little nervous and overwhelmed. I will be travelling with a partner for the first half, however they have to depart mid way through. I'm now struggling to fit in as much as I can with them to experience as well. My goals are:
- Have heard it is best to experience Vietnam from North to South in order to fully appreciate the difference, therefore flying into Hanoi (too many days here? Not enough?)
- Would love to explore + kayak/caves in Phong Nga (only one real day... should I try to squeeze another?)
- Would love to spend a few days exploring Hoi An (too many? Not enough?)
- Would love to stay overnight on Cat Ba Island and do a day cruise around Ha Long Bay (haven't found a good spot to fit it in yet!)
- Much cheaper to fly home from HCMC - don't necessarily need to spend too long here as most of my interests are more mid/North but would be keen to see the War Museum if I'm already planning on going there to fly home...
Ideally I would do all (or at least most) of the above with my partner and see them fly out, however this leaves me in HCMC in the middle of my trip. I will need to return to fly home, and not super keen on spending so long there but also hesitant to waste time/money backtracking... I'd be keen to spend a few days doing an Easy Rider tour as well and this I could do solo but again looks like I'd have to backtrack after my partner leaves.
I definitely want the best of both worlds here! If anyone could offer any insight/ideas, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
