1st Solo Trip to Japan + the Philippines
I made a post about this before in another reddit (which was amazing) but maybe this can help me plan better in terms of how to do this alone.
I'll be leaving from the US in August for 2.5 weeks. My main points are Tokyo, Kyoto, & possibly a few days in Okinawa if I can afford it. Sticking with hostels the whole time to save money except for a quiet Airbnb if I can fit in Okinawa. Worried about maintaining a reasonable food budget (was already told to not go for sushi unless I'm trying to splurge for a day) & traveling efficiently between different points since I will not have a car. There's also so much to do that I don't know what are must see points of interest or experiences to partake in. I've got a few ideas but really like more input since I don't mind going off the beaten path a little bit.
After checking low cost flight options I'll also find myself with a 1/2 day in Manila. What can I do with 12hrs of time there?
I've traveled alone before but never this grand of a distance to a place where English is not the 1st language so I'm super nervous. However this has been my dream for a very long time & I'm finally at a point in life where I can do it. Definitely investing time in an app to teach me basic Japanese to help me navigate otherwise any more advice will be helpful!
