West Africa by public transport - recommendations?
I am looking to spend about a month (4-5 weeks) in West Africa. I've read a lot about how bad the infrastructure is and how long travel times are if going by public transport and crossing borders so I'm going to focus on a few countries (instead of the popular "country collector" option of breezing through all of them quickly). I am also generally aware that security is not the best in that region.
My top priority is Burkina Faso, in particular the mud houses of Tiébélé and Bani, and the Grande Mosquée de Bobo-Dioulasso.
Other than that I don't really know what are the best things the region has to offer. I am interested in historical sites, especially unique architecture. Wild nature is great but I am not confident to do that alone.
Some general advice about logistics of getting from one place to another would also be helpful.
