Unsure whether to head to Patagonia in April or December
Hi guys. I'm uncertain when is the best time to go for my interests.
Some things about me/what I want from this trip:
- I know this is r/solotravel, but the atmosphere of hostels can really lift my trip, so I'd rather not go at a time when hostels are largely empty (is april like this?) I love meeting other backpackers this way.
- I'm interested in photography, I hear April is a better time for that.
- I plan on hiking El Chalten and the W trek in TDP. No other treks.
- Slightly crowded trails don't bother me, I prefer that to being entirely alone in terms of the W trek, mainly because I'm not entirely confident with multi day treks (this could be another point for December, as I'll have more time to practice). Some of my favourite hikes have been really packed and I enjoyed it because I made a lot of friends.
- I live in Stockholm so I don't mind cold so much but I have never camped in the cold.
- I don't have a limited budget but I will be camping for added experience.
- I would really like to see flamingos and penguins, but i know this is really unlikely/impossible in April.
Take me out of my misery guys, which do you think is a better option? I appreciate any comments because I'm kind of stuck on this decision lol.
