Taking the Train from China to Tibet
I'm looking at returning to China in the last quarter of the year, where I've previously taken long distance train to Mongolia and back. Have been thinking a lot about travelling to Lhasa by Train (potentially November). Has anyone here done this? Love to hear your experience.
I know I can't get a travel permit for Tibet as a solo, so will have to link up for a tour - as I do really want to go to Lhasa rather than only the autonomous regions which are available to solo foreigners.
Does anyone have any recommendations or feedback on the tour/agency they chose for Tibet? I'm not a big fan of tours, and avoid wherever possible, however in this case, it's not possible - I don't think I'd like a long tour, in any case.
I understand overland travel between Tibet and Nepal is currently not available. Did anyone here travel between Tibet and Nepal at the conclusion of a tour in Tibet?
I'm still currently debating about where to enter China - have been thinking about Guangzhou (from HKG) and possibly briefly checking out Lijiang, Shangrila, maybe Yulong Snow Mountain and heading slowly North towards Xining.
