New Zealand for 1st week of April. Camper Van or Car & Hostles?
Hello all,
I'm heading to NZ, Auckland, for a week at the beginning of April. Getting in on Mar 30 and leaving April 6. Single male, 29 years old. I figure getting to the South Island may be a bit time prohibitive, so I am planning on sticking to the North Island.
Question I am now working out is whether to do a camper van or rent a car and just do hostels and couch surfing.
Rates for Escape Self Contained vans are quoted as roughly $85 USD a day, no insurance included yet. Then I'd have costs of camp sites and all the other stuff.
Car rental is much cheaper, but I have no clue what hostel prices are like. I could also swing couch surfing too, via the app. This seems like the cheaper route, but I do not know if it is the most "adventurous".
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated, as I have no experience in this realm. I'd also like to be as respectful as I can of the place.
Thanks!
