Looking for a peaceful, quiet place to spend the next three months. Any suggestions?
A little background...I'm a 29 year old male from a small town in the US. I travelled a decent amount ( to Mexico, Costa Rica, Brazil, various European countries) when I was younger but havent been out of the US since 2012.
I haven't travelled lately because I developed a medical condition called hyperacusis back in 2012. Basically, the hyperacusis causes me to experience pain in response to every day sounds, even with the use of ear plugs. I've had a tough time just navigating my small town, so the thought of traveling has been super overwhelming.
Anyways, I've decided I need to stop letting this condition prevent me from doing what I love, so I'm going to try and get back out there.
I'd love to find a place that's very peaceful/quiet for my first trip back. I'd also love somehwere cheap, warm and sunny, with beaches nearby.
I had considered Thailand but from everything I've read it doesn't seem like a great fit for me. Even the islands seem like they could be relatively challenging given the proximity of night clubs/bars to many of the budge accommodations.
My budget is around 5k and I'd like that to last me around 3 months or so if at all possible. The longer the better.
Anybody have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance!
