First time roadtrip seeking advice.

My three friends and I have about 7-10 days to do a roadtrip to somewhere in the United States with central PA being our starting point. Our spring break would be between March 2nd-9th, but as we are college students, we plan on saving money by staying at free campsites along the way. Our ideal destination would be Glacier National Park, but with this time of the year, I don't know if Glacier or other free campsites would be viable. We have little experience when it comes to camping/roadtrips, but I am willing to learn and research anything so that we can be prepared.

With that in mind, does anyone have any advice so that I can make this trip into a reality?
