First Solo Trip to Maui (31M) - Advice

Hey All,

I have a few questions about Maui accommodations. Since I’m going solo I plan to stay at a hostel. I had seen several recommendations on r/solotravel for the Aloha Surf Hostel but unfortunately I’m booking a little late for an early March trip and it looks like half the dates are booked up.

Next choice is Banana Bungalow Maui Hostel but it looks like a huge emphasis on partying (I enjoy some parties but at 31M and married I’m a lot less inclined now to just drink and dance all the time!). Anyone have experience at this hostel? Do you think it would be fine? The alternative is booking half the time at Banana Bungalow and half at Aloha Surf — would that be unwise (I have 8 days in Maui)?

Second question is whether or not I should get a rental car!
