Female with 1 day/2 nights in Chicago
Hi all,
Due to schedule conflicts, I have ended up with 2 nights in Chicago in March before joining my tour group. My flight will get in to Chicago around 6pm on Friday and I will be joining my tour group 2 days later on Sunday morning. This is my first time in the United States.
I have done lots of research but the time restrictions mean I have to make the best use of my time. Are there any must see attractions you would recommend? (I heard the Shedd aquarium is an easy half day due to queues so might not be the best idea on limited time). Is it best to be based downtown? I’ve heard of quite a few people basing themselves closer to the airport where the prices are cheaper and trains to downtown are cheap.
Also, due to being solo, I would love to meet some locals. Previously, I’ve done this by sitting at a bar and making small talk with people which had occasionally led to friendships. Is it possible to base myself in the downtown area and still be able to do this? Or are the style of American bars less open to this?
