Doing the El Camino in May, looking for recommendations to extend my adventure afterwards?
Hi everyone
I'm a 23M who's sick of the corporate world and I've finally decided to have an adventure! My main interests are nature & hiking, history, meeting fascinating people, pushing myself physically & mentally, spiritual awakenings, and partying (in small amounts). Hostels & couchsurfing are perfect accomodation-wise, I'm not fussy. I've decided that the El Camino pilgrimage is exactly what i'm looking for and am building my adventure plan around that.
I would really appreciate any ideas or recommendations of where I can go afterwards to extend the adventure.
I'm not sure when I'll have the same amount of time and money again so I really want to make the most of it. My budget (including flights) is €7000 and time is no issue, besides a 3 month visa limit in the Schengen EU area. I am open to literally anything as long as it fits with the adventure/nature/history/pushing/meeting-people idea.
My plan is as follows:
End of April - 10 day Vipassana retreat
15 May - Fly to Barcelona
Barcelona (3 days)
Train to Pamplona (2 days)
Bus to El Camino Start
El Camino (-35 days)
Bus to Porto (2 days)
Bus to Averio (2 days)
Bus to Lisbon (3 days)
End of June/Beginning of July - Fly home from Lisbon
(Total Length - approx. 50 days)
Cost: ~€1800
Round flight: ~€700
Total: ~€2500
This leaves me with ~€4500 to carry on with.
I would love if you good people could give me ideas on extending my adventure after Lisbon, in the lines of what I explained above, instead of flying home from there. I would have 40 more days in the EU region but I'm open to anywhere as long the budget would hold.
Thanks for all the help!
