“Solo-travel self” vs. “Every-day self” - Semi-permanent move in new city making me feel like my tired, unmotivated everyday self.

Does anyone feel like they have two “selves”?

I’ve moved to Paris for school for exchange and it’s been day 4 and I’m feeling tired in my studio, jet-lagged, unmotivated, and sorta want to be by myself because I’m kinda too tired to make friends. But it’s also making me kinda lonely. I feel like I’m back to my normal self.

My “solo travelling for fun self” is a lioness. She isn’t scared, will approach strangers in hostels, and will always have a good time. I think it’s the time pressure that makes me feel so motivated and excited to wake up every morning. I usually stay in each city for about 2-3 nights maximum and always have a GREAT time, much more than than in the 4 days I’ve been in Paris (which I’ve been in before which was awesome!). I plan and cram everything I wanna do in those few days (which is usually a good amount to keep me busy, out and about).

But now I have all this time on my hands. And I just want to chill. I’ve moved 100lbs of luggage halfway across the world, living on my own, and I’m just tired. I’m feeling to be frank, quite disappointed in myself. This just isn’t as magical.
