Rough itinerary for 46 days in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize; any advice or critique with what I have so far would be appreciated.
Hi.
FWIW I am not sticking to any itinerary 100% and I will play it by year: stay longer here if I like it and move on if I'm not feeling it I just need to visualise things for it to make sense which is why I drew up that spreadsheet lol however since I am arriving and departing in Cancún and making my way through two other countries I kind of do need a plan to stick to so modifications will be a day or two and won't deviate too much from the route I have laid out unless something far more accessible is obvious.
The main thing really is that I want to be in Lago de Atitlán for my birthday but otherwise I'm flexible for everything else.
TBH I was planning on missing Mérida and dividing that time between Campeche and San Cristóbal but if I want to go from Chichen Itza to Uxmal or Campeche then it goes through Mérida anyway so I might as well stay there?
Maybe I am also planning on too much time in Semuc Champey? It sounds like a massive PIA to get to so I figured I should stay a couple of days to make the most of it.
Also having trouble with which cenote to visit: Cenote Zací in Valladolid; Cenote Ik Kil in Chichen Itza or Yokdzonot just further on from Chichen Itza.
Looking at the image I'm thinking maybe I can shave a day off Semuc Champey and a day off Caye Caulker and add those two days somewhere else; possibly Tulum to break up the trip to Isla Mujeres?
OR
Skip Isla Mujeres completely and add the 4 days to Campeche and San Cristóbal since I am doing Caye Caulker anyway maybe Isla Mujeres is unnecessary?
Thank you.
