NZ South Island or Japan? June 2019 - from UK
Hello,
I'm M20s from Wales, UK and I'm stuck between the above. Context: by the beginning of this holiday I'll have spent 4 weeks working on NZ North Island during which time I plan to explore it on weekends. I've never visited either of these countries and I realise they're very different. I'm slightly concerned by weather on S. Island in June. I wonder what people with experience of travel in both thought - pros, cons? Will I find South Island slightly samey after being on North Island for 4 weekends?
When travelling I enjoy history, food, walking/outdoors, culture. I'm not into extreme outdoors stuff but I do a lot of walking at home in Snowdonia. I see myself visiting both places eventually but wonder which is best to do first whilst the opportunity presents itself. I anticipate travelling so far afield for any meaningful time to be very difficult over the next two years with my work.
Travel history: mostly traveled around Europe, I've been to SE Asia and China for a couple of weeks each and been fortunate to travel a fair bit in the US and Canada. I anticipate the costs of either place would be manageable from what I've read about them.
Thanks for any input!
