My first solo trip to China - success!

Last year I decided to take the trip of a lifetime! SO many people called me crazy for wanting to go to China by myself. It was an eye opening experience and not nearly as intimidating as I was expecting! Truly the hardest part is working up the courage to book those flights. The rest just falls into place.

I took ten nights and visited Hong Kong, Guilin and Yangshuo. Staying in hostels and booking tours/deciding my schedule as I went. HIGHLY recommend travelling this way - you never know what you’ll feel like doing on any given day, if the weather will be suitable etc and you can often find a much better deal locally!

This trip taught me the value of good research and preparedness. It also taught me how incredibly similar we are as human beings, all over the world. Culturally, we may be different but fundamentally, we are the same.

Thanks so much to everyone on this sub for your advice and support. I’m already planning to go back!
