Key Words?
What’s up all ya crazy solo travelers in this world; my kind of people!! I first hit the road in this format back in 2013 when I hitched 3 months across New Zealand and a month in Tonga. Haven’t look back since!
Here’s my question; what words do you find yourself needing or wanting to learn/use when you’re in a foreign language speaking country? The obvious ones Please/Thank you/Excuse me...My goal is to dig deeper than what the guide books offer. Last year I hitched across Western Europe with a sheet of paper that had English words on the left, then French next to it, Italian next to that, and Dutch next to that. For me, the important phrases were “wild camping location,” “good hitching spot,” and of course “how’s the weed?” The best is when I sit with a local and we point to identify objects. I try to write those down too. Great to know random words in different languages.
What words do you like to know? I’m heading out on Sunday for 3 months across Southeast Asia for the first time. Cheers y’all. Make this thread about good vibes and fun information. Happy 2019...make it a badass year!
