Have opportunity to travel in a country I'm not terribly interested in... thoughts?
Hello fellow traveling redditors. I'm currently faced with a dilemma and I'm not sure what to do. I'm currently doing seasonal work abroad and will be heading back to the US in Feb. To fly home, I have to go through New Zealand (which I have a 1 year visa due to my job) I'm able to delay my flight back to the US for up to a year and travel NZ and the surrounding areas.
But here's the thing. I'm not terribly interested in New Zealand. Sure it is absolutely gorgeous. But I'm very not looking forward to driving, which seems to be a necessity there (I have my license at home and have lived/driven in Japan for 2 years, so I'm capable I just very much dislike it) They seem to have an ok bus system but it is rather expensive. That's the other thing, NZ is obviously not a cheap place. Is it worth spending the money to travel around a country that I'm not excited about seeing?
I didn't spend time in NZ last year as I assumed that I would just do it this year. This may be my last season at this job though so this may be my last opportunity to travel here without paying for the flight...
I intend to fly to South Korea a few weeks after returning home, and I am much more excited about going there....
thoughts? Pro's Con's?
